Healthy Mouth… Healthy Body

We all know that we should brush and floss our teeth. We’ve heard it from our parents, teachers, and of course our dentists. But do we really understand why it is so important?

Diligent brushing and flossing are important for more than just white teeth. The primary purpose of excellent oral hygiene is the removal of harmful bacteria that grow on our teeth and under the gum tissue. These bacterial colonies are the cause of gum infections known as gingivitis and periodontitis.

Emerging medical research suggests a strong connection between gum disease and numerous health risks such as heart disease, diabetes, lung infections, and low birth weights in pregnant women.

At Arcadia Dental Arts we truly believe that we are making our patients healthier by focusing on their oral health and wellness. Ask a team member how we can keep your mouth and body their healthiest!

Laser Therapy for the Treatment of Periodontal Disease

Congratulations on making your Oral Wellness a priority!

Treatment with the Dental Laser is very different from conventional treatment because it utilizes non-surgical therapy rather than surgical treatment to combat Periodontal Disease. It is an adjunctive therapy that, along with excellent home care, can help to kill the bacteria responsible for gum inflammation and bone loss, and promote tissue healing.

The Dental Laser emits concentrated energy in the form of a light beam which vaporizes unhealthy tissue and bacteria. This state-of-the-art treatment has enormous potential for not only arresting the progression of Periodontal Disease, but for stimulation of the cells that regenerate healthy gum and bone tissue. After initial Laser Therapy, the continued use of the Laser during follow-up visits decreases the amount of bacteria present in gum tissue by approximately 50% over a 90 day period, resulting in less bacterial destruction of healthy tissue.

As always, our goal is to provide the highest quality, state-of-the-art dental care available. The Dental Laser is just another example of how technology is providing our patients with better treatment. If you should have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
